Precision – Plasma Technology for Nano Manufacturing - NCPST
Precision

SFI Strategic Research Cluster

Research Opportunities – Open December 2008

Introduction
Precision is a newly established Strategic Research Cluster supported by Science Foundation Ireland and our Industrial partners.  The Cluster is hosted by the National Centre for Plasma Science and Technology (NCPST) at Dublin City University and the Surface Engineering Group at University College Dublin.  The Cluster aims to develop the scientific and technological knowledge needed for present and future manufacturing applications using plasmas, with a specific emphasis on nano-scale products, process reliability, manufacturing costs and advanced materials processing.

The Cluster is current seeking postgraduate application for candidates interested in undertaking a programme work leading to either Masters or PhD in the following areas:

Field Subject area Based in REF
Physics Modelling of atmospheric pressure plasmas DCU PPG_MMT1
Physics/Electrical Engineering Development of electrical plasma diagnostics DCU PPG_MH1
Physics/Electrical Engineering Plasma resonance probes DCU PPG_MMT2
Physics Plasma spectroscopy DCU PPG_PS1

Postgraduate Stipends:

  • 4 year stipend (starting at €18,500) plus fees

Interested Applicants should complete the appropriate Universities applications form (see links below) and return all applications (including UCD) with a cover letter noting the reference for the position you are interested in and a copy of their current curriculum vitae to:
