NCPST web based plasma and vacuum courses deliver another success story!
The recent graduation ceremonies in DCU saw awards presented under two of the National Centre for Plasma Science and Technology’s industrially focused education and training programmes – the Certificate in Plasma and Vacuum Studies Programme and the Masters/Graduate Diploma in Plasma and Vacuum Technology Programme.
Much credit is due to Dr Jim Conway for his continued efforts in supporting the Certificate in Plasma and Vacuum Studies. The programme is specifically focused at technicians and engineers in full time employment who need to up-skill in the ever advancing plasma based technology being used by the semiconductor manufacturing companies here in Ireland. The programme is current seeking to extend its remit to also include biomedical companies who are now also availing of plasma technology in their manufacturing plants.
This current group of graduates is the fourth cohort of students to have completed the certificate program since its inception in 2000. A total of 30 students have successfully passed through the program in this time, and there are currently 14 students in the process of taking the course.
In addition to this programme the NCPST in association with the Centre for Plasma Physics at Queen’s University of Belfast support a web based Masters/Graduate Diploma in Plasma and Vacuum Technology. This programme is equally focused at those working with plasma based technology.
The provision of these programmes is in keeping with the NCPST’s and DCU’s strong commitment to developing links between the university sector and industry.
