Minister Conor Lenihan launches fusion energy exhibition at DCU

Minister Conor Lenihan TD launched the "Fusion Expo" at Dublin City University on Wednesday, 11th November 2009. The purpose of the mobile exhibition is to promote awareness of Fusion as an energy choice of the future.
While the exhibition has been held in cities across Europe, DCU was the first Irish University to host the event. The exhibition presented fusion as an environmentally acceptable, safe and sustainable energy technology. It explained the fundamentals of fusion and demonstrated fusion research facilities in Europe. The Expo was hosted by DCU's National Centre for Plasma Science & Technology (NCPST) which was formally established in 1996. The NCPST receives EU funding for its fusion research and has also received funding from SFI and other government agences for plasma research.
