Module aims:

  • To provide a broad introduction to mathematics so that students can appreciate the usefulness of numbers and functions in inter-disciplinary areas.
  • To familiarise students with more advanced techniques in the solution of applied problems.

 

Learning Outcomes:
The student will gain:

  • The skills required to confidently manipulate expressions in calculus.
  • An appreciation of the use of matrices, techniques of integration and enjoy the challenge of problem solving.

  • Basic skills.
  • Functions and Graphs.
  • Differentiation & Integration.
  • Logarithmic, exponential.
  • Matrices (Brief cover, dealt with in Module 204 (Exp Design))
  • Vectors. (Brief cover, dealt with in Module 102 (Physics))
  • Statistics.
