| SFI Conferences & Workshops |
Rolling Call | The Conference & Workshop Programme aims to support conferences, workshops and academic-industrial workshops, for dissemination and collaboration on topics of timely importance in the broad areas of science, mathematics and engineering. Conference bids and events raising public awareness of science, mathematics and engineering may also be supported. The budget available, on a competitive basis, is up to €50,000 direct costs. |

Call for 2010 now closed | The objective of the IRCSET INSPIRE co-funded Scheme is to encourage Ireland-based researchers who have gained most of their research experience in Ireland, to avail of a structured period of overseas mobility with associated career development actions, followed by a corresponding return period in Ireland. Candidates propose pursuing their work for up to 18 months at a research laboratory in any country of their choice worldwide, followed by a 12 month reintegration period at an Irish research laboratory. |
| IRCSET EMPOWER - Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowships in Science, Engineering and Technology |
Call for 2010 now closed | IRCSET offers fellowships based at an Irish research laboratory. The candidates must be within 3 “academic years” from the award of PhD and propose pursuing their work for 24 months at an Irish research laboratory. The scheme is designed to encourage excellence in research by funding those at an early stage of their postdoctoral career to associate with established research teams who have achieved international recognition for their work. |
| IRCSET Enterprise Partnership Scheme | The Enterprise Partnership Scheme links IRCSET with private enterprise and eligible public bodies to co-fund postgraduate scholarships and postdoctoral fellowships among the most promising researchers in Ireland. The Scheme facilitates the establishment of new relationships and the strengthening of existing relationships between industry and academia while offering financial support to researchers at an early stage of their career development. | |
| IRCSET Ulysses | Call for 2010 now closed | Ulysses is a programme for research visits between Ireland and France. The programme facilitates the exchange of innovative ideas and approaches between Ireland and France and the development of mutual research projects by supporting researchers based in Ireland to visit France and reciprocal visits by researchers based in France to Ireland. The programme also provides for the organisation of research workshops which bring together researchers based in France and Ireland for the purpose of establishing research networks. Support of up to €2500 is provided for short visits to partner institutions over a one-year period, and covers travel and subsistence costs. Applications from researchers at an early stage of their academic career are particularly encouraged. |

| EI FP7 Coordinator Support | Rolling Call | Coordination support for academics from Enterprise Ireland: The aim of this support scheme is to facilitate the preparatory work leading to a proposal for the coordination of any research project under the EU commission’s Seventh EU Framework Programme (FP7). The maximum grant for academic coordinators under this support is €25,000. All research projects are eligible. |
| EI Travel Grants for Academic Researchers | Rolling Call | The aim of the Travel Support is to facilitate participation in the Seventh EU Framework Programme (FP7). Funding covers visits by Irish researchers abroad to meet potential partners or attendance at EU information days/workshops relating to FP7. When a researcher exceeds €3,000 for all visits, they need to provide EU reference numbers for FP7 proposals that they have been included in. |

| FET Open Scheme FP7-ICT-2009-C | Rolling Call until Dec 2010 | Funding for collaborative frontier research projects in Future and Emerging Technologies that open the way towards radically new forms and uses of information and information technologies. Research under FET-Open is aimed at achieving a first proof-of-concept and at developing its supporting scientific foundation. In addition, FET-Open targets support and coordination activities for high-risk and high impact visionary research. These activities can be either thematically oriented (for example, stimulating the emergence of a new research community), or they may focus on horizontal issues in FET-type of research (for example, catalysing new visions and ideas, promoting new research modalities, attitudes and practices; or exploring new ways for achieving visibility and impact of the research). |
